ORCA is a not for profit, medical research charity.

At ORCA we are conducting research into novel therapy for Ulcerative Colitis with the aim of cure or induction of long-term medication free remission for this disease, rather than opting for long term control of symptoms with medication which is continued indefinitely.

Treatment Protocol

The treatment protocol predominantly involves our unique approach to Faecal Transplantation (FMT) with highly screened healthy donors. This technique has received ethics approval for a multicentre study with our research collaborators in Sydney to see if other centres can replicate our high response rates for active ulcerative colitis. This study has not commenced yet.

If the first round of FMT treatment proves ineffective, the program includes a second round with dietary changes and pre treatment with an antibiotic combination, prior to using a second screened donor for the second FMT.

We have published our results at the International American Gastroenterology meeting showing a 90% RESPONSE for patients with active ulcerative colitis.
